abkeenan Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Body shops have families to feed too. That's the truth. About 10 years ago hit a deer on I-70 coming back from Mizzou going about 70mph at 4am in the morning and SMOKED a doe with my Wrangler. She pushed the radiator all the way to the belt/pulley system. I smoked my way for about 1/4 mile to the rest stop and had to get towed to the dealer.
Guest Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Ive been bowhunting for 14 years, deer hunting for 25 years. So, far I've lost 5 deer to twigs, limbs & adrenaline while bowhunting. I totally missed twice last year. One of the deer tried to hunker down when the string popped. I got her in the front quarter with an exit thru the throat, not the intended outcome. I tried to track her for 2 hrs in the dark that evening. She was floating in the creek the next morning. 5 days later I killed a 9pt in the same stand, this time it was a double lung shot. He piled up after running 25 yards. So, theres always room for error when bow hunting. If I had it my way, I would kill them 100% of the time, but Murphys Law trumps common sense.
Flysmallie Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 One of the deer tried to hunker down when the string popped. I've never bowhunted so that's something most don't take into consideration. I haven't really either so I've been to blame on that as well. When rifle hunting by the time they hear the gunshot it's too late, but the sound of that bow is going to reach them before the arrow and I can see how that would make a huge difference. Just starting to realize the difference in arrow speed between different poundage bows at the archery range where my kid shoots has been really amazing. It's a very interesting sport to me all of a sudden. If I ever get back into hunting it will be with a bow.
Guest Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Heres a prime example, woman shoots at doe at 16 yards (very close range) & the deer ducked under the arrow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogu7Wedemag

Also a good example of how non-sporting that was...good grief. Deer feeder 15 yards from the blind? Come on now!
TRRANGER Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 In some states this, ie baiting deer is perfectly legal. No different than fishing with live bait, just because you dont do it that way doesnt mean that others cant if allowed by law. Killing any deer with a bow under any circumstance is difficult at best.
