Left State Park Marina shortly after 7 this morning looking for suspended fish to throw the spybait. Bite was pretty good early then really slowed. I got off the water at 2.

Caught 11- all spots with 4 keepers. Even the short fish were pretty chunky.

They continue to bump it once or twice then load up on the lure. Even trying to be more patient and let it load, I missed several good bites. I am warming up to replacing the hooks with some Deathtraps to see if it will help with hookups.

I plan to have one tied on during the jerkbait season to spice things up.

Always good to get reports on the spybait. I haven't thrown it in about a month, but better get it back on the deck just in case. How deep were you fishing the bait?

The fish were suspended 20' to 25' over 50' to 80' and several bites came on the fall. It seems like a good plan to watch the line and keep in contact with the lure on the fall. This definitely a finesse deal.

you and I agree with Bill B. about the deathtraps. As we discussed, stay near the original size.

Nice day, huntest. Those spots are always loads of fun. When you start catching keepers on a spinning rod in 60-something degree water, you have a battle on your hands.

I threw the Spinbait90, in "fish jr." color, Sunday afternoon near Dewey Short, only spent 20 minutes throwing but caught 2 keeper smallies and missed a couple other hits. Threw along the ledges with a 10 countdown and the suggested steady retrieve. The pearl white 80 worked really good around Indian Point about a month ago, even landed my first meanmouth on it (17" about 2.25lbs or so).
