I Got A Chuckle Out Of This. Didn't Realize They Have Been So Bad Lately.

Gene Wojciechowski, ESPN.com: "First of all, congratulations to Kansas interim coach Clint Bowen for winning his first-ever Big 12 Conference game. That's as many league wins as the guy he replaced (Charlie Weis was 1-19 in Big 12 games), and the guy Weis replaced (Turner Gill was 1-16). All you need to know about the state of Kansas football is this: Fans stormed the field and tore down a goalpost after Saturday night's 34-14 victory against Iowa State. I repeat, Iowa State -- the same Iowa State team that is 2-7 overall and winless in the conference. For the rest of us, this is like tearing down an electrical pole because you folded your socks. It gives legitimate goalpost tear-downers a bad name. I know KU football has been a vast wasteland of losses. I know it was only the Jayhawks' second conference win in the past four years. And I know KU fans have nothing else to do until the Jayhawks' basketball regular season starts this Friday (can you imagine KU fans storming the floor after beating UC Santa Barbara?). But for the sake of all that is holy in college football, please don't ever do that again."

KU football has pretty much sucked for years. They had a couple of good seasons under Glen Mason and Mangino, but they became horrible under the new hires for both.

Being a Mizzou fan, I remember when we hit rock bottom under Bob Stull. Thank goodness Larry Smith was hired (remember Corby Jones?) and Pinkel came along...

Gene doesn't know much about the KU football mentality. They know they suck -- they did it as a joke, and they've done it before. They also used to throw oranges on the field the first game of the year.

Yeah. It was a joke too.

They suck, it's embarassing, and having a perennial favorite basketball team does NOT make up for it. You gotta have respectable football. This ain't the east coast.

I hear ya.

Would you like to come to the SEC so we can be rivals again??

Naw. You guys squandered one of the best rivalries ever, for a little more money and because you weren't getting enough attention. I hear there are hopes of a rivalry with AR. I guess it's because you share a border them.

Hell we ain't getting any attention now.

Leading the East division and not ranked???

I'm actually glad now we left. I think being in the SEC has made us better.

Nope, it wasn't us that didn't want to play. Could have easily been a non-con game but Kansas didn't want to. Playing Kansas though is kind of a double edged sword, sure it's fun to kick their butt every year but it kills your strength of schedule.

That one comment from Bill Self sure gets dragged out a lot. You realize it's a perfectly reasonable response right?

And, yeah, KU football is a joke. Why do you even care?
