smbasser Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 maybe 1-2 second pause and jerking the rod hard to get a reaction bite. i was in shallow enough water that i broke the bills on 2 megabass and cracked a body on one.
Alex Heitman Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 That's a great day smbasser. I managed 2 good keeps on a jerkbait but never could get more than that. Both came out of a brush pile. I tried throwing it and everything else yesterday on main lake and secondary points with only 1 fish from those locations. It's been the worst fall fishing I have had in a while. Tomorrow morning is the last time I will be down for quite sometime. Hope we can manage some to turn the trip around a little bit.
Sore Thumbs Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Last weekend I was catching them in the same way. Didn't matter how fast I was working it. Faster was definitely better than slower.
Champ188 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Fished Saturday from Baxter to Point 12 up the James and back. Ended the day with a whopping total of 9 fish, including 1 white bass. We did have fair quality in them, with our 5 best going 12-13 pounds (didn't weigh them individually so don't have an exact weight). Jerk bait was the only deal going. Donna threw a jig a fair amount and blanked on it, and I did the same with a blade. Just a strange day.
Bill Babler Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I went out yesterday, launched at indian point. ended up with 14.85 in my best 5, all smallmouth except for one 4.95 largemouth. stayed between indian and cow creek fishing any point that had wind blowing and ripping a jerkbait. fish were shallow <10 fow. Threw a wiggle wart and spinnerbait as well and had 1 fish on each. Ended up with 13 keepers, mostly smallmouthVery, very nice day. When you are moving that jerker that fast and keeping in constant contact with it the hits in the 50 to 60 degree water usually are just slams, especially if you are catching Jaw's in the wind. Great report and thanks a bunch. Makes us all want to start a jerkin them. Have heard from some of the guides and they are spooning and footballin pretty well, with the spoon as deep as 60' and the jig consistant in the 25' to 40' on the channel drops in the river and creek arms. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
ozarkgunner Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I did well on the wart and the megabass plus 1 this weekend in stockton. It's time for the jerkbait bite to start. Heavy sack with 8 plus keepers and a few keeper eyes. Angler At Law
