fishingaddiction Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Very good day of fishing. That is a good one Donna! Thanks for the report. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Donna G Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Thanks. Champ is always good to take a pic before I release my catch. Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
Pepe Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 That is encouraging news. Thanks for the report. I dont have much experience or confidence in a jerkbait but it sounds like I need to learn.
abkeenan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 That is encouraging news. Thanks for the report. I dont have much experience or confidence in a jerkbait but it sounds like I need to learn. Keep at it Danger. Once you get a few to smack it you will be hooked. It's my favorite technique. Just be sure to always hold onto your rod firmly even when your mind strays after a lot of casts with no bites. Almost had a 4+lb'er jerk the pole out of my hand on a jerk bait about right at the boat. Short stringed me with about 8 feet of line out. Actually shocked I held on to the pole as I wasn't looking, paying attention or expecting a strike when she destroyed my McStick.
fishingaddiction Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 You are correct abkeenan. There is nothing quiet like or as exciting as the take on the jerk bait. Concentration at all times is a must as most will take it on the pause. I am always watching my line as it enters the surface of the water so that I can detect the slightest hits. I don't consider myself an expert by any means and still learn things every time I fish it. The way to learn with any new technique is to commit to throwing it, sometimes that means leaving your other favorite techniques/rods in the rod box or take them out of the boat. Born to Fish. Pepe Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Committing to the technique sounds like good advice. I will do that. Thanks guys.
