Thanks. Champ is always good to take a pic before I release my catch.

That is encouraging news. Thanks for the report. I dont have much experience or confidence in a jerkbait but it sounds like I need to learn.

Keep at it Danger. Once you get a few to smack it you will be hooked. It's my favorite technique. Just be sure to always hold onto your rod firmly even when your mind strays after a lot of casts with no bites. Almost had a 4+lb'er jerk the pole out of my hand on a jerk bait about right at the boat. Short stringed me with about 8 feet of line out. Actually shocked I held on to the pole as I wasn't looking, paying attention or expecting a strike when she destroyed my McStick.

You are correct abkeenan. There is nothing quiet like or as exciting as the take on the jerk bait. Concentration at all times is a must as most will take it on the pause. I am always watching my line as it enters the surface of the water so that I can detect the slightest hits. I don't consider myself an expert by any means and still learn things every time I fish it. The way to learn with any new technique is to commit to throwing it, sometimes that means leaving your other favorite techniques/rods in the rod box or take them out of the boat.

Committing to the technique sounds like good advice. I will do that. Thanks guys.
