Feathers and Fins Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 For a Christmas present for the entire family might I suggest going to Beaver Shores and catch as many white bass for the Christmas Dinner this year and save a turkey and pigs life... EAT MORE WITEBASS. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
J-Doc Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 It's Beaver Lake. They could be gone tomorrow. With this front coming in, I'd bet they will be moving along somewhere. Could be within 200yds, could be within 1 mile. But one thing is for sure.....what works today may or maynot work tomorrow on this lake. Don't be scared to look around for them. And from what I heard..........Beaver Shores was a boat parking lot today. So it's gotten a lot of pressure. Especially from one particular Bass Tracker that fished it all day long today............(F&F) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 How true a statement that is... They could be in one spot for 3 days go back and leaves you scratching your head where they went. But at least this time of year its typically up river so just go up it till you find them. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
navery Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Do the hybrids follow them up river or tend to stay on bluffs?
Feathers and Fins Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 I have caught hybrids all over the place not any specific area but this time of year they are on the bait pretty good and headed up river. Most people cannot tell the difference between hybrids and whites though when they are the same size odds are many people are keeping them not knowing. This is why I wish AGFC would stop stocking them. I typically only get 3 to 4 good hybrids a year 10+ pounds and numerous in the 1 to 4 pound range which is the size of many whites and where they get mistaken. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Riverwhy Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Why would that make you want them to stop stocking them? I absolutely love fishing for hybrids and 3 or 4 nice ones a year is a gift.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Simple, with the confusion many are caught and kept in the 1 to 3 pound class never making it to maturity. I get maybe 3 a year in the 10lb class. They would be better off stocking Walleye, Crappie. Largemouth Bass or even more Striper than stocking a fish that is easily confused and harvested far below its potential because of that confusion. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I've often wondered about the intelligence of that because hybrids are a tad rare on certain arms of LO where they are reportedly stocked, but it seems to work just fine on Truman which has a good balance of whites/hybrids. One thing I've noticed, and it might just be a coincidence, but the areas where hybrids are most common always seem to have smaller average whites.
