I have 15 different styles of loomis rods. If your using a 3/4 oz and up in 15' and deeper the best choice in my opinion is bcr 855

. If 1/2 oz or less then the BCR 854 would be the one I'd pick. This rod is 7'1"

I have been using one for a long time on my 1/2 and heavier jigs. Mine is an IMX. I like it a lot.

The 844 is a hard to beat good all around me heavy rod. The bcr 854 is better for pitching though.

Thanks for your feedback, I know there are other great rods and by other manufacturers as well, but I have had good service with loomis and returning rods which is important to me when you are spending so much on a rod. I will mostly be using rod fishing 3/4 oz jigs around brush in 10 to 20 foot range which I think this rod would be great for.

3/4oz would be the very upper limit to me. An 855 may be better. Your preference and mine may be different though.

I've had an 844 GL3 for years. It is stout and I rarely use it anymore since getting away from throwing bigger jigs. Anymore I'd rather throw something with a little more tip. Would actually sell it if someone was interested.

I have two MBR GLX 844cs. The GLX series is one of the best you can buy, and the 844c is an awesome rod for jigs and soft plastics. I also own an NRX 854c JWR and while it may be slightly more sensitive, I think the GLX is the better buy.
