Nick Williams Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 About a week or so ago, I was out with a group duck hunting over on some flood waters of the Verdigris River here in NEOK. As with everywhere here in OK it seems right now, it was super slow. Before we decide to pack up I took a hike around to scope out some other areas and I came across this. A glass Pepsi bottle with papers inside. At first I didn't think anything of it, other than the fact that it was neat, but upon further inspection, the lid still seems to be sealed (I included a picture of it), and the papers inside appear to be bank receipts from 1986 (included one of that too)! If nothing more than what it actually is, it's a cool trinket to throw on a shelf. But at the same, kinda peculiar. Any thoughts? I didn't really want to break it open if there was nothing more to it since it's cool just how it is. - Nick
Chief Grey Bear Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Is that a Git N Go check stub? fishinwrench Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 That is odd. I'd have to open that up and see what was so special about those receipts. The lid has to have been cracked before, right ? Otherwise it was sealed at the bottling co.
Nick Williams Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 It does say 'n-Go', Chief. I'm not familiar enough wih Git-N-Go to know anything about those though. And that's what I thought, Wrench. It was pretty dirty when I found it and so I thought there would be some cracks elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find anything. I'm not aware of any way of putting a metal cap on outside of a bottling factory, which makes it all the more odd. - Nick
Chief Grey Bear Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 That is a chain like 7-11 or Quik Trip. I'd say that is some check stubs someone put in there years ago. I don't think they have made those bottles since the late 80's or early 90's. Open her up and take a read. Chief Grey Bear Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 This reminds me of an episode of Andy Griffith. Bea got a letter in the mail. She spent 5 minutes trying to figure out who sent it to her. Finally Ange says to open it up and find out. Stunned at the thought of brilliance, she opens it. Fish Bork Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Every once in a while with a metal screw lid like pictured above. I could open the bottle without pulling off the sealed ring. I'm guessing that's what happened Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
fishinwrench Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I love mysterious stuff like this. For the love of God, man OPEN IT ! Reminds me of these little notes I found in the woods where I squirrel hunted when I was a teenager. They were in tiny envelopes tied to branches with yarn, and had little messages like... "The time is near", and another 3 trees away said "He is coming", and then there would be another one saying " Cleanse yourself". Then "Are you ready?" It was pretty dam creepy until I came across the one that had a drawing of Jesus on it and directions to a little one room country church with boarded up windows and a parking lot big enough for maybe 6 cars and a hitching post. It worked, I went. Got some weird stares too (Long hair, bell bottoms, prolly reeking of Colombian shake, and obviously quite stoned). Listened politely to the sermon, sang a few songs, got saved....and then put all the little notes in the collection plate.
