gramps50 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 This looks like an interesting product to use to get your fly casting timing refined. Also something you could use in the winter months to keep your casting muscles toned. Your thoughts. BTW it's a $70 gizmo Here's a demo by Floyd Dean
Old plug Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Well the days are starting to get longer asure sign that eing ison the way. Time for the Leaders in fishing for fishermen developers to come out of the woodwork. I do not see how it can help you at all. You have things like wind, type lure ,rod action etc to contend with.
fishinwrench Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I seriously think it would be a great learning/teaching tool. If I had a fly shop I'd buy one.
Old plug Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Yes I think you would. But then again if it got into the wrong hands someone could learn to accurately use a bull whip with it. You might want to think about that a bit more.
gramps50 Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 I should the video to the boss and she said I needed one and that I should order it. Learned a long time ago not to argue with the boss.
Old plug Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 That is why I was advising wrench to be careful about someone learning to use a bull whip with it.
fishinwrench Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Pffft. A few strikes with a bullwhip would be easier to take than the reality. One good thing about being a fisherman is that I've learned to recognize patterns right away... When my gal tells me I should go ahead and buy some over-priced thing that she knows I'd like to have, that just means that later on I will also be spending 200+ dollars on a purse and a matching belt or shoes that might get worn once. That scenario is more dependable than a buzzbait bite after a late September flood. gramps50 1
Old plug Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Better I. know her wrench the more I want to call her Pat. Only differance is after 51 years she is gping to buy what she is going to buy. It does not work both way though.
gramps50 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 The Accelerator arrived Monday, I'm here to tell you the videos make it look easy. I'm sure it doesn't replace going out and practicing with a fly rod, but when it's cold, rainy or just to ugly to go practice I think it will help. I think it will help with acceleration & the stop. Trying to use it several times a day to build muscle memory.
