Fish Bork Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I've been duck hunting for awhile but I've always gone with buddies, usually near Warsaw. This year I've struck out on my own hunting from shore or in my kayak. Too bad I've picked one of the slowest years, I've been to Stockton 4 times and shot one duck. I'm game for anywhere in SWMO Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
duckydoty Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Most of us are having trouble finding ducks this year in SW Mo. I have resorted to fishing for crappie all duck season till I see enough numbers worth hunting. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Feathers and Fins Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Probably my worse season for ducks, im sticking to striper fishing there just isn't the numbers. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bs1827 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I picked this year to try duck hunting for the first time and I've killed nothing but time. Hoping this latest front might push a few late birds down.
jdmidwest Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Man, I am glad to hear it was not me this season. Our season in middle zone is done and I did not even shoot at a mallard all season. I was only able to get out 4 times and killed a grand total of 7 ducks. 6 were on opening day. 2 days there was no shots fired. I was kinda wondering if a trip to the SW part of the state may be in order, but looks like it would be futile. Feathers and Fins Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Nope JD not you. Look at the snow coverage map it tells the tail. I had friends in Nodak and Sodak chasing geese last week and they said bigger ponds and rivers still free and snow depth isn't effecting the birds one bit. The numbers were promising this year but the winter was a bust. Best gunning has been CENTRAL KANSAS down to CENTER OK and TX gulf coast. Miss flyway birds still haven't moved down... When were in SEAR for the holidays I saw mostly spoonies and teal and next to NO Mallards. Snow Geese though were all over. If the Weather doesn't Ice the ponds north and snow covers the feed they wont come down. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jdmidwest Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 There were tons of gaddies this year. Friends that made it out on a few good hunts were nailing them. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
vonreed Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 It's not like normal, but when i've been floating the local rivers south of Springfield, I've seen quite a few. It would be best to jump shoot em though, so you might not be interested in that type of hunting.
