Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 11, 2015 Root Admin Posted January 11, 2015 I told the guys after the weigh in that we've never had a tournament where it took 8 pounds (8 trout) to be in the money (10 places). 44 boats. Weights speak for themselves. It was cold to start with motors, steering cables and trolling motor froze up but the fishing was pretty darn good.
hillbillyflyshack Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 What were the baits most caught on...jigs and colors?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 11, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted January 11, 2015 I didn't ask colors... I don't get accurate answers sometimes Especially with another tournament in 2 weeks. I get pretty good info after the Elfrink tournament though! I do know the jig-and-float guys were fishing real close to the bottom or they said they weren't getting bit. 1/32nd oz jigs. Probably dark colors.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 11, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted January 11, 2015 I know the guys who won trolled crank baits down lake - bridges and down.
Members knuck Posted January 11, 2015 Members Posted January 11, 2015 Phil we actually only trolled the last 1 1/2 - 2 hours to try and fill the livewells, our shoulders, elbows, backs were sore from throwing countdowns for 2 days so trolling seemed the obvious choice to finish off the day and catch a few. That keeper brown was Kirt's 1st fish of the day on a countdown below Fall Creek, my rainbow was caught on one of your jigs just below Branson. We only had 7 fish to weigh, we tossed off several 6-8 inch fish early on "knowing" we would have no problem filling the tanks, we're both glad it didn't cost us. I'll bet we caught 30-40 nice but short browns, 15-20 on Saturday. Thanks to all of your family & staff for putting on a great tournament and taking care of us. Steve
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 11, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted January 11, 2015 Wow- that's a lot of browns. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Members freelancer 11 Posted January 12, 2015 Members Posted January 12, 2015 I talked with a few people and catching several Browns was pretty common. We caught 3 total all around 13-14in. Jigs were the bait of choice for us.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Last Feb in the tournament i caught 25 browns and my partner prob did the same. Not a darn one was big enough to keep, it as a blast but frustrating at the same time
