Members alldone88 Posted February 6, 2015 Members Posted February 6, 2015 A friend and I are hoping to make it down to the white/norfork to toss streamer for a weekend in march. Planning to pull my 15' hyde lp down from sw michigan. Any local trout bums want to go for a float with myself and a buddy March 12? We'll take care of everything like the shore lunch, beer, rowing, and spotting fees. You provide some local knowledge such as est. float times, water level indicators, and other tidbits that would hopefully increase our chances to hookup with more big trout. We are fish all day type of people, and know fairly well how to get bent on trout/smallies in Northern Michigan. I think we could come down and find some success on our own, but why not fill the third seat with someone who loves chasing trout, and who we could potentially share best practices with. You would also gain a connection in Michigan who would be happy to return the favor someday and put you on some naturally reproducing Great Lakes steelhead. Shoot me a PM Tight lines.

Ham Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 You should be hoping for clouds, but not rain. You should also be hoping for cool weather so they might generate a little bit. If you really want to HOPE for something. Hope they run 1500 CFS all day. The river only runs about 4 miles before it hits the White and the last mile or so IS NOT great water. You might end up floating it twice in one day. When water comes up, you'll quickly know it. Small river. Generation quickly increases depth and flow rate. The river sounds louder and the water line along the river is quite evident. You might also end up spending significant time on sections of the White as well. Twin River Fly Shop in Norfork and Steve Daly's fly shop in Cotter are two good sources of information with lots of streamer fanatics involved. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Hoping for some rain. Cheers, I would have taken you up on your offer if I didn't live so far away. I don't frequent the river like I did in the past but one day last year the water dropped out while me and a buddy were about mid river and we had the time of our lives. Good luck, let us know how you do. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw.
