Dan the fisherman Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Wondering if n e one has been to horse shoe bend. That's the ramp I've been using this winter, but with this snow/ ice, i'm curious if the ramp is safe to go down.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 No clue been sick the last few days, but I doubt they are clear. When i have launched after storms like this i use dirt areas like the back of PC and even Monte Ne in truth though i would not risk it no fish is worth damage or injury. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
J-Doc Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I hate using that steep rampnin summer much less winter. :-) I'd go to Monte Ne as there is less of a risk of frozen ice. But I wouldn't go until it warms up a bit anyway. The bite will be pretty rough I'd guess. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Quillback Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Not only to you have to deal with the ramp at Horseshoe, but the parking lot slopes downhill to the ramp.
J-Doc Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Yep. It's the steepest ramp on the lake. Nice dock and ramp but it's got a heck of a slope. Need marine repair? Dan the fisherman Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 I guess I'm feeling a lil cabin fewer and wanted to get out for a lil bit. But ya, I'll just stick around the house a little longer. Fins hope u feel better. I have being sick. Luckily I haven't been in few years. Not but a small runny nose. Well thanks everyone, be safe if u have to get out.
JohnF52 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 That ramp is very steep. I wonder how many emergency brakes have failed to hold on that ramp. I won't use it in good weather. My boat is small and easy to launch and retrieve on almost any ramp. I have to immerse only the back of the hull.
Dan the fisherman Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 I like the dock they have at HSB. It helps with launching. Especially sense I fish by myself a lot so it really helps.. I like PC too. But haven't been fishing that way sense early December. I'll give it a few days
Robert Haynes Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I like Horsehoe bend ramp, it is steep but never had an issue, launches big boats well but never would I consider using in ice conditions
