Barker has won a won over 6 figures fishing it, so I kind of tend to rely on how he does it. The v37 is also I believe Beck's favorite Brown Craw.

Nice comment on the leaf Stonner, more than a great example. lots of times you just lose it or it stops wiggle warting. That's a BITE.

Good Gosh we got to get off this Board and onto the water.

You should be in KS. If not for pouring heads I'd be stir crazy, and it is spitting snow yet again.

Charlie, you have to pull it along like bumping a FB jig. Same thing works with the Flat A, 6A-7A, and the old Kill'r B's. Guy from IA taught me that at Truman many years ago, and have fished most mid cranks the same way since.

V38 is really good. Just really good. First color I spent time learning to paint. It is more of a stained or colored water bait, but that is usually a better place to throw a wart anyway.

Any word on the suspend dots?

Im debating on drilling a hole on top of the bait to acess the largest cavity. Then drop a small wieght in there (smaller than a BB) & seal the hole back up.

When you are pulling the rod like that trophyfishr you are making it suspend but can still feel the bait and moving it very little. I have added some with suspend dots but prefer it without them.

Always thought the dots "deadened" the action and feel of a wart. Would not clear coat over them just in case they oxidize underneath. If anything slap them on and give them a quick coat of nail polish or epoxy.

I use the suspend dots to get a farther cast so the wart will dive deeper, not to get it to suspend. The fish will react to it coming off a rock or something. Gerald Swindle tried to fish the wiggle wart back to the boat real fast back in 05 and couldn't catch em, he had to switch over and fish it on a spinning reel to make himself slow down. There will always be new baits and new paint jobs, but like Babler said, the old tried and true brown craw (or tomato red as Barker called it) has put 6 figures in his pocket. It ain't broke don't fix it

They will hit it going fast on the really windy days. I'm sure the slow methodical method is more consistent especially on days with a little chop. But I would rather fish the Ned if the wind isn't gusty. I will start using the drag & reel method since it's the consensus style of retrieve.

Yes, you can catch some burning it, especially in pea gravel pockets with wind. Day in and out the ""pull" is the winner.

The little rig will likely out fish it, as you described, but the wart will catch some big fish.

I just realized that I repainted a few V38 with the shiny look to them. I had no clue they were the real deal. Now I feel kinda guilty, although I repainted them as V63 so it's not all bad. I just wished that I had known better.

If its pre rapala it doesn't matter. They don't catch fish anyways :secret-laugh:

I've got a bunch of clear billed pre raps that I need to paint.

What colors do yall suggest for the clear baits?

Phantom brown craw is the obvious choice but I would rather not paint all 10 of them in the same color.
