jdmidwest Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I know he may be disturbed to be remembered by that character alone, but he was Spock. He was good in other roles, but he was Spock to the end. Leonard Nemoy passed on today. God speed and avoid the wormholes. Kirk will probably be remembered as a hotel hocker, Sulu, well, only the rainbow will tell. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Al Agnew Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 George Takei (Sulu) posts a lot of really funny stuff on Facebook, though. Nimoy certainly was the perfect Spock, although whoever it is that's playing the young Spock in the recent movies is pretty good. He didn't like being so closely linked to the character for a few years after the series disappeared, even wrote a book entitled, "I Am Not Spock". But later he embraced it and even wrote another book saying so. I never met Nimoy, but Shatner commissioned two paintings from me. It was Christmas Eve, about 6 PM, and we had a bunch of people at the house when the phone rang, and I heard my wife answer it and then say, "yeah, right." Then I heard her say, "Really?" It was Bill Shatner's personal secretary calling and saying he had seen a greeting card that had one of my paintings, a nighttime scene with a cougar, snow, and mountains in the background, and wanted a painting that was similar. They'd been trying to track me down for a week. I ended up doing the painting and delivering it in person to him at his place in Kentucky, where he raised horses. He later commissioned another one of a seashore with a blue heron.

Quillback Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 That is pretty neat. Looked up Shatner on Google. He is now 83 years old, doesn't seem possible.

jdmidwest Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Looks like the BBC report I read this weekend was false. Facebook hoax turned to real news report. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
