rangerman Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Can anybody fill me in on the water conditions for the river arms. Muddy? High? Etc... Want to come down but 3.5 hour trip with poor conditions would be depressing.
MeatintheFreezer Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 James river was virtually impassable today, couldn't even think about getting up on plane. Those darn spoonbillers were everywhere! In all seriousness, it was very muddy and very trashy. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
Members Grappling Coach Posted March 15, 2015 Members Posted March 15, 2015 Same here. I went up flat creek as far as I could get my boat, hoping to find some cleaner water coming in, but no dice. Mud and trash everywhere. How long does it generally take to clear up? My son and his girlfriend are coming home from college for a couple days and wants to do some fishing Monday or Tuesday. I heard that the main lake is only about 45 degrees right now. I am at a loss on what to do, as I am not a very good cold water angler and the mud has my river fishing messed up.
GNSfishing Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I'd go to Aunts Creek, I live here at Cape Fair and it is muddy and trash. Wasn't too bad below Piney. It will travel on down so thats why I would put in at Aunts Creek and run up if you are a mind to. The fishing was great but the catching left a little to be desired nary a keeper.. But there's always tomorrow.....
rangerman Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 Thanks a million guys! Saved me some gas money.

willyfish Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Stay home and fill out your bracket, rivers are closed it sounds like.
Seth Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 water temp? I had 51-53 on my graphs the past two days from point 15 on up to Walnut Springs. We went out and tried to snag last night, but it was pointless in my jet drive. I couldn't idle for more than a few minutes before I had to stop and clean the trash out of my intake. Really stinks because I've never marked so many paddlefish up the river as I did this year for the opener. My buddy caught a small male with a tag today about 5 miles up from the 76 bridge. MDC told him they tagged that fish a few days ago by the bridge so he moved up quite a bit. I'm sure the extra flow coming down the river made some of them move up.
