JohnF52 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Sequoyah captures a lot of silt that would otherwise go into Beaver. We could use a similar silt trap on the west fork.
Notropis Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 As several members have posted, this is a dangerous time for boaters on the lake. There will be lots of floating debris, logs, etc. Everyone please be careful running the lake, especially at night.
JohnF52 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I went over to the Twin Bridge area this afternoon. No catch to report. Only a few people out fishing. Visibility in the White was about 6 inches. Visibility in Richland Creek about 14 inches. The lake is now backed up into the mouth of Richland Creek. Give it until about Monday and things might get better.
Stump bumper Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 This steady climb this early makes me think we will reach the flood gates this year. April showers will tell the story but I think the bass will spawn around the picnic tables this year. I personally like those years. We are at full pool 1 month ahead of 2013 so another 10 feet is not unthinkable if they wait until hot weather to generate. I do enjoy Holiday Island area much more during a full lake that with lots of generation than on the dry years.
Members showmebass Posted March 28, 2015 Members Posted March 28, 2015 I love the high water years, and I hope this is one of them. Lots of fun to drag bass out of the bushes and trees on jigs, flukes, and Biffle Bugs. Stump bumper 1
Stump bumper Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Looks like next week will be lots of rain with Monday and Thursday being SEVERE weather but if they move fast should not add that much water. I am still betting that high winds and increased flow will push the mud line north by next weekend.
Guest Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 If we can dodge the bullet this week, I really like the direction that Beaver is going. A slow rise in April is tough to beat.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I would love to see it get 1123 to 1125 and hold there through summer and in to fall. That is a high water year to me as it gets in the Buck-brush and stays there long enough to provide cover for this years fry. At 1120 which it is now it is just in front of to just barely in it couple more feet and in 3 to 6 years from now depending on which research you read on fish growth in relation with out length limits we will have a strong year class swimming around. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Dan Sweeney Posted April 6, 2015 Members Posted April 6, 2015 I'd love to see it up in the brush during duck season. That's a little bit of an aside but a blind built with thirty yards of bare shore behind it looks a little suspect. Ron Burgundy 1 Silence is golden.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Dan the lake is actually best for ducks when it is 8 to 10ft down, it opens up the mud-flats for them to feed in when its up they raft out in the middle making it much harder. Just use a layout or build a good portable blind. Im not kidding. Dan Sweeney 1 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
