Members rhondafish Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 Can you use multiple fly rigs at Roaring River, or is it single fly only? Thanks
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 20, 2015 Root Admin Posted March 20, 2015 I think it's single fly, but Tim will chime in shortly.
Members Corky Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 In Zone 2 from the posted sign at the mouth of Dry Hollow Creek to the Old dam in the lower campground only flies may be used. Definition of a Fly for Roaring River State Park Fly- An artificial lure constructed on a single point hook, using any material except soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined above, that is tied, glued or otherwise permanently attached .(flies may be fished with or without a spinner attached; single-point hook spinners commonly referred to as a rooster tails may be used in waters designated for flies only) In Zone 1 at Roaring River you could use more than 1 fly because you are allowed to use artificial lures. It is the same Definition for a Fly for Bennett Spring but the Zones are different , so check your zones of what to use.
chub minnow Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I'm pretty sure you can use a double rig anywhere in the park as long as it meets the above definition of a fly. I have fished hopper / dropper rig there in zone 2 many times - I think with CA watching me fish a few times........
Amery Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I've seen people fishing spoons and power bait in zone 2 with the CA watching........
moguy1973 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I always thought hopper droppers were not allowed at the parks. Guess I was wrong after doing some google searching. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Ill Trout Bum Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 As long as the dropper is at least 6 inches away from the primary fly it is considered to be two separate flies. This is what I was told by the CO at another park. Scott
BFTMASTER Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I was down in Zone 2 this weekend and saw almost every spin fishermen using some sort of soft plastic, be it a trout magnet or something similar. Does not seem to matter to much though, I did not see any of them catching anything. I think the CA could watch it a little closer IMAO
timsfly Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Droppers are legal in all zones Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
timsfly Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Spoons are ok, if the fisherman removes the treble hook, and replaces it with a single hook that has a fly tied on it, I have fixed spoons like that many times for my customers. We do Rapalas like that to, great in zone 2. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
