Members NWAfishbiologist Posted March 30, 2015 Members Posted March 30, 2015 We are working on the Beaver Lake Annual Report and should have it completed in a few weeks. I will post the report when we get it completed. We have been working nights collecting adult walleye for the spawning project mainly on the lower Kings River. We normally work the Kings River for a few nights and finish the project on the White River below Beaver Lake. This year we collected around 50 female walleye from the Kings and the hatchery produced over 5 million eggs from the project. The hatchery will raise walleye in hatchery ponds and stock fingerling walleye statewide. Walleye fingerlings will be stocked into Beaver Lake, White River below Beaver and Kings River as well. All the adult fish we collect from the project are stocked back into the Kings or where we caught them. We did catch a few trophy females during the project and one was almost 14 pounds. Hopefully, our stocking will produce some more trophy walleye in Beaver Lake and tributaries of Table Rock Lake. Jon Stein AGFC jolicious and J-Doc 2
Ron Burgundy Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 That's great to hear Jon thanks for the update, Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
jolicious Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Thank you Mr. Jon. Sure appreciate all y'all do
J-Doc Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Awesome!!!!!!!!! Now that walleye are being targeted more than ever on Beaver, an ongoing restock program is needed. They are sustaining a good population it seems but the growth rates would mandate a healthy management program I would think. Thanks for the update!!!! Need marine repair? hoglaw Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Yeah.....like this one. Local "goober" for sure. To be clear, F & puts together a phenomenal report and it's the gold standard. I was poking fun at the typical report that comes from Darrell's Minners n' More for white oak lake that shows up in the AGFA reports.
hoglaw Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 That was supposed to say agfc. Phone corrected on me.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Thanks Hog, J-doc just has crappie envy and now has the title of Ultimate Spot Jumper. lmao https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
hoglaw Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I've got crappie envy too. I don't know where any magic ledges are. I fished the arkansas river this weekend which is normally automatic limits. It was a struggle. Caught 2 giants on the bank but not much else to show for risking my life in 3 foot rollers from the wind blowing up river on sunday morning. I'd have turned around if it was safe to do so. Water was just too muddy and Temps only hit 60 mid day, so my bank spawned slaughter is another couple of weeks away down there.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Your a braver man than I fighting thee river in those winds and probably barge traffic. I have talked to some friends in Russellville and they are thinking 2 to 3 weeks and then its trashcans full time as they say. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
