Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 29, 2015 Root Admin Posted March 29, 2015 We've seen 4 full units for 4 days now and it has proved tough fishing for most people. If you're trying to fish the main lake, you have to drift and get your bait or lure on the bottom. That's where the fish are. There and on the sides, in eddies and in the creeks. In the creeks is where we've been sending most anglers seeking to catch a few trout. Fall, Short, Cooper, Turkey, Coon and Roark Creeks. If you're fishing the creeks, throw lures or fish something under a float. The bottom in most of the creeks has a layer of leaves--you'll be pulling stuff off the bottom if you fish on the bottom. Minnows under a float is working the best. Trout Magnets are good too. Schools of rainbows are swimming in big circles in Turkey and Roark. Get in one place and wait for them to swim by. Most of these rainbows aren't real big I've heard. If you can find a slow seam along a bank, tie up or anchor BUT MAKE SURE IT'S SLOW WATER. IT'S DANGEROUS TO USE AN ANCHOR IN SWIFT WATER!! I usually do well throwing minnows behind the boat in these seams. Table Rock is starting to drop but slowly. Hopefully is a couple of days, the Corp will slow the flow a bit.
Members Stevan Posted March 29, 2015 Members Posted March 29, 2015 Some of the best fishing I have ever had was several years ago when they were generating three or four under the dam, and five over the top. We boated up to the cable and threw gold 1/4 ounce Kastmasters toward the bank. Didn't matter which side. Slowly retrieved when casting toward the bank, or using 1/4 or 1/8 ounce gold Kastmasters trolled behind the boat while drifting down the middle from the cable to lookout. All we used was 2# green Maxima line with the drag set pretty loose. From lookout down to Fall Creek we threw variations of sculpin 1/8 ounce jigs toward the steep bank, and the same just below Fall Creek. Knocked them dead for three full days. Good luck and wish I was there. With that much generation even I probably couldn't ding a prop.
vonreed Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I can't wait to see your "One Cast" video with this current, lol.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 31, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted March 31, 2015 It's not pretty.
vonreed Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 If you'd have done the Onecast report tomorrow, you could have put on a spoonbill rig for April Fools! Phil Lilley 1
JestersHK Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Man that water is moving... I'm guessing they are still pooling up in the creeks? Still running 4 units?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 31, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted March 31, 2015 Yes and in slack water in places. But Steve Dickey is having his clients drifting eggs, big scuds and san juans in the trophy area and catching big rainbows! No big numbers though.
