Flysmallie Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Stockton is an incredible spinnerbait lake in the spring and fall. Never thrown a War Eagle but any good spinnerbait will be just as effective on that lake. larryace and Nathan Shaw 2 Â Â
Members austin14 Posted April 2, 2015 Members Posted April 2, 2015 I ve had one War Eagle break at the wire bend right where the knot goes, Ever since that wire broke I have been kind of Leary to use a War Eagle, but Strike King Spinner baits have been the best for me, So just a warning about war eagles.
Lifes2Short Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I can't tell you how many War Eagles I have broken in the same place, but it's quite a few. There have been a number of times I have watched a bass swim away with 1/2 of the spinnerbait still in it's lip while I still have the blade side attached to my line. I LOVE the W.E. spinnerbaits and use them all the time, however if I'm fishing a tourney I ALWAYS tie on a new one. That stainless steel can only bend and be reset to it's original shape so many times........................and more often then not I have a bass on the line when it snaps. I know I could prevent this from happening as much as it does if I wouldn't pull the bass out of the water by the bait and reach down and actually pick up the bass by it's lip.......but with all the fish I catch on the spinnerbait I would get really tired of bending over all day. Walcrabass Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Btlifes2short, If you remember back a ways it was a big thing that the "Arm" of the spinner Baits was supposed to be thin enough to "Vibrate". This was supposed to be the ticket for a great spinner bait. Well, I hate to tell you but if the blade on it doesn't put our enough "throb" or "Vibration" then you are in a pickle. The small diameter wire has cost many, many a fisherman his bass. Another friend of mine has the same problem. Actually he HAD the same problem. He uses the same ones I use now and the problem is over. If you are interested in what I use just PM me and I will let you know where to get them. Totally hand made and a good price. Walcrabass
