I need a general purpose rod to match a new Shimano Curado 51E reel. I will be using jigs, crankbaits and tubes from 3/8 to 3/4 oz using 12lb flurocarbon line (mainly casting).

For those familiar with the reel, what rod would you suggest in the $100 to $150 range (new or used).

Suggested rod type, length, weight and speed would be appreciated.

Falcon Low Rider "Angler of the Year " Split Grip on the upper end ($149.99)

Falcon BuCoo "Herm" ($100.00)

I have both rods and they are great.

I would suggest a used Loomis Mbr844 IMX for jigs and tubes. For crankbaits you will need a different action rod.

good choices^.

Yea you've got two different rods going there. I build rods but use 13 Fishing rods as they're hard to beat for the money. A 7'1" mh omen would handle the jigs great and I use a 7'1" medium for most cranking.

If you could only get one rod, I'd say a used Loomis IMX MBR-843 is as good an all purpose casting stick as there is for our lakes. I do agree though, that you really need another stick for cranking. For that, I'd suggest the 7' lews David Fritts medium on sale through sportsman's outlet ebay store (and probably in the actual store) for $49.99.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be looking at all the rods suggested.
