merc1997 Bo Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 put in at big bay just before dark, and did not venture outside of big creek very far. results were 18 keepers, with one in the 4 lb. range, and two in the 3 lb. class. the rest were all 16 inch bass. only caught 5 or 6 shorts. best two lures were 1/4 hair jig with spring lizard pup, and a 3/8 rubber jig with a big flapper trailer (similar to zoom super chunk). depth of bite, for the most part, was 10 to 15 feet deep. caught a few off on the main lake banks, but most came from the coves. i know that one would think with 18 keepers that the bass were just tearing the bone out, but that was not the case. all the bites were that were what i call "the next to nothing" bites. simply like stuck on a rock, or the jig felt like it fell off of a two inch rock, and some could be detected by a very slight side ways movement of the line. and obviously with the depth of the bites, these bass were not up on the bank in a real feeding mode. bo forgot to mention that we had the boat back on the trailer at 1:45. so, we fished just about 6 hours.
Quillback Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Sounds like a great night of fishing. I wonder if those Mill Creek night tournaments have started yet?
Longball22 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Looks like the first Mill Creek night tournament is this weekend.
fishingaddiction Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 You have had some very productive trips lately Bo. I think you have them zeroed in. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Champ188 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Amen to that. If I was on 'em like that, I'd pony up and fish the derby Friday night and Saturday too if they still have both.
