Recommended Posts

Put in at 8 and had to park in the overflow parking, word is out on the crappie bite. More boats out today than on this past weekend. Fished off the beating path and found em in 4-6 fow caught 2 nice limits with my son all on road runner very light bite, had to be a line watcher. Caught many by just seeing line switch. Also had 2 nice walleye. Great day on the water with my son. Tight lines.

Think you're right, I rarely throw to the bank cause the banks are hammered so hard and now with the crowds I stay off and try to concentrate on staging fish that most don't fish for. Today rarely seen anybody fishing where we were and if we did they we're throwing to the bank. I read all your reports and respect your results, you are a great fisherman!

Great report. Sounds like an awsome trip with the bonus eyes. Your right about the stagers if you can get them figured out its a more consistant pattern. The spawners on the bank will tight lip, pull off, go back, and many other things that make them harder to stay on. The staging females will be a reliable pattern throughout the spawn. I love flippin the banks but when the crowds roll in i switch to staging fish that know one has pressured.

With staging fish dont give up on them. Its a little more challenging to develop a pattern on them bht when you do keep it to yourself and you'll be gettin limits of slabs when everyone fishing the banks will be saying they we're. Here yesterday i don't know what happened. Alot of people won't even fish the stagers because you have to actually know how to fish to get them. Try it if you want a back up plan during the spawn when the banks crowded. I'll be strictly targeting them in the next 2 weeks when the swarms or crowds roll in. Good Luck to all and go get em!

Went out 2 evenings this week, left the boat ramp at 5:15-5:30 each time and had a limit of crappie by 6:30 each night. All in the mouth of a staging pocket. I had more bites easing my boat along the bank of the pocket and casting out to maybe 12 ft of water and working back towards the bank. Some hit on the deeper brush and some shallower but they seemed to like it better coming towards the shallow.
