Eric82 Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Thanks. I'm not one to be secretive about my spots, this is a fishing forum after all, I caught em at Indian camp creek park on the st Charles/ Lincoln county line. I drive up pass the lake to the first parking lot around the bend. Then I take the trail upstream to access the stream. I've caught sunfish n smallies there a lot. Mostly with poppers on the fly rod...
Eric82 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks!!! I fish old school equipment exclusively. Fiberglass and old reels. That reel is on an old Garcia ultralight rod. Love those old mitchells but my cardinal 3 is my fav. Got a Dam quick this winter I've yet to try out. Probably due to the fact I primarily fly fish... its funny I tell people I fly fish/fish with old school fiberglass rods and they give me those weird looks. HAHA!! To each their own...
Eric82 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Hoping the weather will cooperate this weekend for my float. I don't mind rain but lightning is a different story. If that be the case maybe I'll just hit up Huzzah CA and fish during the lulls in the storm. Fingers crossed... Smallieguy87 1

If that be the case maybe I'll just hit up Huzzah CA and fish during the lulls in the storm. Fingers crossed... I'm looking to get out there on Saturday i'm hoping the storms Friday night blow over. The rain for Saturday so far doesn't look to bad Accuweather is showing spot showers so i don't think that will have a big impact as long as the forecast stays that way for Saturday.
Eric82 Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 Yeah Ive been checking the forecast regularly. Looking better. U going to Huzzah CA? Good luck to both of us!!! Maybe we'll cross paths... I'm still gonna try to float the courtois if possible but people berryman to bass. If not I'll prob spend most of my time at the courtois accesses at the CA. Tight lines!!! Smallieguy87 1
Members capndan Posted April 23, 2015 Members Posted April 23, 2015 My Late Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim had a farm at a low water bridge on the Huzzah. Don't remember where but they used to drop trout at that low water crossing right by the house. Swam that hole with those trout many a time when it was way to cold to swim. That was about 40 years ago man was it that long ago? My Uncle Bill used to fly fish there all the time. He is the only one left now and 93. I call him often since my dad died about 2 years ago they were very close as brothers and used to fight without making a noise cause if their dad new they were fightin they would get a wippin. The whole family would meet at Aunt Mary and Uncle Jims and have the best dinners you could imagine ham, mashed taters, green beans, fresh yeast rolls and all kinds of other stuff and Pecan pie. Before and after dinner I was always on the creek. Saw a loggerhead that was the size of a car tire once(he could still be alive but probably long since was poached and stewed up) and that was the first time I saw Uncle Bill fishing a flyrod I thought what a pain compared to my zebco 600 and matching brown whippy fiberglass rod with stren 8lb but boy did I tear up the fish on homemade dough balls that were just rolls smashed with some spit and worked into a small ball on a number 4 hook. I used to out fish Uncle Bill who was quite an accomplished fly fisherman and I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't take me up on my offer of my other rod. Not until I started fly fishing myself later on. Man oh man could I tell you some stories and mostly true. Those were the days! Greasy B 1

That's the plan my good man! I've been wanting to get my new kayak out but haven't found anyone to go with and since i'm new to kayaking in general i'd prefer someone be around with me as a safety precaution.
Coosa Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 So how was it? Been wanting to get on the courtois soon. My brother hit the mermac Saturday with pretty poor results.
Eric82 Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 All in all it was a good day. I caught a few longear and one smallie. The water was up a little from the rain. I caught all the fish in the shallows using black BH woolies and a couple on white poppers.
