I have hit 8lb largemouths on pencil poppers when I thought I was throwing to stripers, but just don't think about it when I am chasing bass. Funny how my biggest largemouth have been disappointments since I wanted a 30lb striper instead. I need to break out those big top waters more often, I love to drag a big pencil popper behind the boat while moving around, I have seen them get knocked 20 feet into the air, but for some reason it just comes to mind on a calm day or early morning.

Most of the big fish hang with the other big fish. I saw it again yesterday. I'll post a report later. I was striper fishing and caught 3 good fish these guys would have loved to have in their livewells this week.

Everyone hates on the stripers but they need to start following them if they want bigger bass.

Just checked the FLW web site and looks like you could have dropped your trolling motor in Prairie creek and watched the whole show. All of the fish they were talking about were between RT12 and the back of Prairie Creek. They should thank all the weekend fishing tournaments for putting the fish there for them.

I wonder if the two nice smallmouth I released there yesterday are about to become famous. Lol!

There were quite a few Bronz Ninjas weighed in today. Had a video of a guy catching one by the swimbeach at PC.

Impressive last day from Arey- they showed an awesome video of him catching his biggest fish of the week at the side of his boat- fish came out from a dock and followed his swim bait all the way to the boat. He was out of line so he ducked down and gave it a figure 8 type move similar to what Muskie guys use. Fish ate it and he flipped it right into the boat. Awesome video.

Winning back to back here says a lot about a guy. And he fished a lot differently than he did last year. Pretty incredible versatility and ability to fish the conditions.

FLW rules state that pros can not get any 'local' knowledge from a co-angler in the back of the boat. Steve would not have been able to help his pro at all. I launched at prairie this morning and stayed with Matt Arey for a couple hours. Saw him catch 7 or 8 keepers but he culled almost all of them later in the day. My good friend Mike Surman finished 10th and he caught all of his fish in 20+ feet of water all week.

the Kietechs paid off yesterday.

Everybody bashing its durability, is the reason why I havent been throwing that bait.

Wish I would've just tried them sooner.

I caught 4 bass on 4 consecutive casts yesterday (a 1st at Beaver Lake) & that Kietech never tore up.

a dab of super glue on the head made a difference.

I caught a mixed limit of smallmouth, spots & mean mouths off the same spot.

Neds & Kietechs

Honestly, its been 10 years since I bass fished at Beaver. (always fish 4 crappie)

I was kinda surprised by the sheer number of kentuckies in the lake right now.

Things have improved enough, that I'm going back to try & catch enough kentuckies for dinner.

I really didnt see that many beds yesterday, so I've got a feeling the full moon will send a big wave up shallow.

All the fish I caught were fattty pre-spawners spitting up crawdads, no sign of bloody tails.

Don't be afraid to keep throwing that KaiTech even when it gets beat up! The glue is the key- keeps a torn bait on but IMO they only work better when they get a little torn up.
