I would be willing to guess that a lot of the bigger fish Spawn much deeper on beaver Lake than other lakes with less water clarity. The water clarity of beaver Lake allows light penetration much deeper which the fish eggs need to develop. The larger fish have reached that size because they have learned to adapt to the lake and the water fluctuations over the years. I think the deeper spawners have adapted to spawn deeper to guarantee a more successful spawn by avoiding problems with water fluctuations that way. I think that could possibly explain some of the reasons for the larger fish in the offshore bite during the same time period. Just my two cents

Its nice to armchair. But it just keeps making me wonder why they are beating banks and not hitting points on the wind or fishing the offshore fish. I would love to know if any of them are throwing a Jerk-bait or a Ned. Yes the horrible Ned, we know it produces.

F&F, I live near and fish in the Hickory Creek area. I was out today and found lots of fish on really windy, rocky points. I am not a tourny angler, but I caught 24 bass, mostly spots up to 18in. on the ned. Just 1 ned.

There was 8 or 10 flw anglers in the area at one time or another, and I never saw any of them on a point.

They would blast past the points on the way to the very back of the pockets. Go figure.

I was fishing around the islands in front of PC this morning and saw a guy pull up on point and catch at least one. I tried not to get too close so I couldn't see who it was. Saw another guy catch a fish on a point right across from the ramp at the hwy 12 bridge. It was blowing pretty good today.

Its a tight race with 5lbs separating the field.

I don't think Andy Morgan will stumble but if he doesn't get a limit, its anybody's ball game.

That makes it entertaining.

Local knowledge of the lakes of all the tour lakes is interesting, I followed forums a while back for FLW and BASS and the Local guys always seem to ask the same questions of why the "Pro's" are doing this when the Locals know and in many cases were out at the same time doing that and generally doing better than the "Pros".

So the question that always comes to mind is with the wealth of knowledge on lakes anymore from the news papers to internet and even many tv shows, is why are the pro's not doing what the locals are to produce?

Heck in the off season if I was a pro I would be hiring local guides on the lakes and listen to them but seldom do you hear about that, maybe they do maybe they don't but you don't hear about it. And many of the lakes are on the circuit each year so why not hire a local who knows the lake like the back of his hand.

Has even one pro thrown a Flutter-Spoon at open water fish?

There's a handful of guys in that tourney that live close enough that they fish Beaver often, and several of the co-anglers also fish it. Steve Meadors is an excellent local bass fisherman, and having him in the back seat would be like having a local guide fishing with you. I don't know who he back-seated for this year, but it would be interesting to see who he fished with this year and how they did.

I would NEVER bet against Steve, simple as that the guy knows the lake and its bass and if I was bass fishing and he was in the boat I would do exactly what he said. There is a handful of guys that when it comes to bass I would give up the front of the boat for and sit back and watch and learn from.
