stuartsx5 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Beginning to think I have lost my touch. Fished last week at Roach and yesterday at Shawnee Bend with no luck. I did at least catch two keepers yesterday. Has the spawn come and gone and I haven't noticed? Earl Stuart fishin is livin
Members rblackburn Posted May 2, 2015 Members Posted May 2, 2015 My bite has cooled off a bit since the water level has come up. I was getting good keepers in 6 feet or less, but now it is extending out to 14. Fished from the dock this morning and only managed 5 dinks and a couple missed bites. Yesterday was not much better, 2 10's in 3 hours and about 10 dinks. Both 10's were males with reproductive organs that did not appear to be ready to spawn.
Members rblackburn Posted May 3, 2015 Members Posted May 3, 2015 Just got back in from an evening session. This time I was armed with minnows. I only bought a dozen, figured that would be enough to see what depth Mr/Mrs Crappie were holding. I caught a some dinks, but did manage 3 keepers in 4-6 feet around brush piles. All 3 keepers were males and one was completely jet black. 2x10.25 and 1x12.
stuartsx5 Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 Thanks for the info. I may try again Thursday. I had about given up but I read on here that females with eggs are still being caught. Earl Stuart fishin is livin

I don't think they're anywhere near spawned out yet. The bank bite should be picking up as we speak and getting better over the next few weeks I'd expect.
Seth Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 9 of the 11 that I cleaned Saturday night were females with eggs. The two that didn't have eggs were barely legal males with there dark spawning colors. conorsixtakc 1

Seth Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Did you catch em that night or during the day? I fished 6-9pm. Caught a few after dark, but mainly during the last few hours of daylight. They never did really turn on and bite like crazy during "power hour" right before dark like the past few trips I made.
stuartsx5 Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 What area of the lake do you fish. I would like to fish toward evening but I really don't want to have to load my boat after dark. Don't really know which ramps have good light. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
