Sac River Jim Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 thnx for a good report. people are making a mistake going to the bank during the day the bigger females are coming up the creek in waves and move to the bank to spawn just about dark. they been doing it for over a month now. hopefully it will last till mid may. i'm already marking crappie off main lake points suspended over piles and in the middle of the coves in up to 30 to 35fow. sublimez 1

grizwilson Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Do you like your Minnkota? g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
zarraspook Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I was wanting to know why he went with the Minnkota and not the Motor guide Xi-5 ??? "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Sac River Jim Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 zarra i can tell you this i bought that new motor guide digital 109 off of Babler and the thing is a beast. It picks the nose up out the water and on an 8 with fairly calm water it will move my boat down a bank at over 4mph. its great in the wind and the 36v system bairly uses the batteries.
Members tryintofish1982 Posted May 3, 2015 Members Posted May 3, 2015 I love my Minnkota, used follow the contour at 19 fow trolled for crappie and caught my limit. I was using minnows around 7-12 ft deep. I I was about 2 miles south of mutton creek along a southern rocky edge, water was relatively clear compared to highpoint a day before. This was Saturday from around 3-8ish.

My Xi-5 is only a 24v but it will pull my 19'/2040lbs walleye boat at 2.7mph and with the cruse control on it will maintain 2-2.1 in to a good head wind.. I have been out up to 9 hours and (guess-t-ment) still had 85-90% of full power... If it had the contour tracking - you would have it all... I have saved 5 different track at contours that work for me and it is nice to just push # 2 and it re-tracks the route.... Sac River Jim Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Nice zarra I wish I had all the bells and whistles but I'm very satisfied with mine too.
