Aggressor1988long Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Ok guys probably only a few females have spawned, been catching females deep after this week and warm temps they will move up. Dang have you all not fished for crappie before in the late spring like we are having?

I prefer the 7 cm but used the 9 cm last week for a little while to go deeper. I caught a 10" crappie with the 9... the bait was almost as big as the fish. I trolled for a little while with the Live Target "Bait Ball". I went for about 20 minutes. The other two in the boat were hitting slabs while I was wasting time. I changed back to Flicker Shad. Flicker Shad are reasonably priced at about $4. A couple of months ago they had a rebate on them that dropped them to $3. A guy can afford to lose one every now and then at that price. Use a counter reel and you are ready to go trolling. Stacy Jordan 1

Terrierman Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I caught a gizzard shad last Saturday trolling a #7purple tiger flicker shad right in front of Ruark Bluff. And no it was not foul hooked. I really regret not taking a picture of that one.

Members champ203 Posted May 9, 2015 Members Posted May 9, 2015 That pdf is an interesting read....but I couldn't find the part about crappie spawn fishing. ;-) On a contributing note, I caught a limit last Thursday nite in 8 fow nearly 1/2 males and 1/2 females all look close but not yet spawned. Members Stacy Jordan Posted May 10, 2015 Members Posted May 10, 2015 Thanks Jim nice read I guess I just need to put in the time vertical jigging and night fishing sounds fun Im catching tons of 8 to 9 inch but only a few 10 inch and above a few walleye here and there but just want to become more consistent on catching better size and well Im getting great feedback so thanks Also I have been mostly fishing the flats up turnback do you think I would be better out cc I have a small boat and have to be selective at times wind traffic ect.. thanks again! steak j !!!
