Members Levi Michael McQueary Posted May 20, 2015 Members Posted May 20, 2015 Did my first overnight of the year. River was up and stained. The rental that put me in said the river was flowing really fast, but I made the worst time that I've ever made doing that stretch. The first day was good catching smallies, largies, and kentuckies. Perch were not biting very well, but the ones I did catch were good quality. Got 2 channels during the night. One on live minnow and the other on cut perch. The next day was terrible. A few perch. My best smallie of the trip and couple more. Only 2 Goggle Eye the whole trip. Last year I didn't catch many either. This is starting to worry me a bit. Since the fishing was slow, I decided to try to get another cat. I have never purposely fished for a cat during the day on a float, I found a spot that I thought I had a good chance to get one and my efforts were rewarded. I did notice the smallies in the 8-10in range have not spawned yet. Bellies full of eggs. ozark trout fisher, Daryk Campbell Sr and Justin Spencer 3
Smalliebigs Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 sweet report!!!! looks like a friggin blast. If you don't mind me asking how far up stream were you on the Meramec??? I'm not trying to troll a spot to fish just trying to figure out how far up you caught the Spot??? I love the channel pics!!!
Members Levi Michael McQueary Posted May 22, 2015 Author Members Posted May 22, 2015 I put in at walkers ford and got out at Ozark outdoors. I catch most of my fish before the Huzzah enters the river. Which doesn't make any sense because it looks productive everywhere.

So much float and jet boat traffic in that stretch that it probably has some negative effects on the fishing.
