oneshot Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Heard yesterday if Trout is caught with Power Bait it will die, if your caught catching one with Power Bait and releasing you will get a Ticket. Like I told them, they swallow my Hook and I want it, I rip their Gills out yes they will go Belly Up. oneshot
trythisonemv Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Is it in the book somewhere ? I've caught plenty of trout on pb and didn't let them swallow it. I'd like to see the rule on that one
Members jimf1969 Posted June 11, 2015 Members Posted June 11, 2015 are you sure the ticket is for the bait. Sounds to like you are getting a ticket for killing fish and throwing back dead fish. that is against the law. All the romance of trout fishing exists in the mind of the angler and is in no way shared by the fish. ~Harold F. Blaisdell,

That is illegal as previously mentioned. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."

jdmidwest Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Power bait is not typically used by catch and releasers, try fly fishing, you will catch more trout. Your ethics are there, but the agent has probably seen alot of dead trout nearby. Park trout are pretty weak and fragile. Some don't even survive an encounter with a barbless hook. Just stick them on the stringer till you get 4, go to the truck and change clothes and catch some more. That seems to work better in trout parks, those numbers on the tags are too small to read from afar. Gatorjet Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I don't fish the trout barrels, ah I mean parks, but on Taneycomo when I take someone out that isn't real experienced I will rig them up with night crawlers, or PB Gulp. I use #4, or #6 at the smallest circle hooks. Plenty of hookups with very little swallowed bait, and injured fish. Real men go propless!

One that told me this is a girl that works in the Park but I had a Girl down there tell me also it was Illegal to fish for Suckers. oneshot

Years ago seen a Guy from North Missouri come back after two days fishing Taneycomo with Ice Chest full of Trout but guess this is why people no longer catch the fish they use to down there. I have luck using my Spinning Outfit with Spinners and Jigs. oneshot
jdmidwest Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 You just can't use spinners and jigs in the bait zone, they will ticket you for that too. But if you put a dab of bait on a spinner or jig, you are legal. Bennett is its own special critter, backwards from what I like to fish. I like fast moving water when I fish for trout, almost all of that is in the bait zone. The only place I really like is below the main bridge at the hatchery. I have caught many there on flies.
