Put in at Ruark again. Not many there and the campgrounds were pretty much empty too. Water looked good and was running 69* when we started out and was 70* when we left.

Crappie weren't bunched as much this trip and keepers were hard to come by. Brought 8 home, had "a lot" of shorts running around 9" to 9-1/2". Couple of short walleye and 1 channel that was wormy. Caught a lot of short bass but had one that was 15" and a few whites. So we got to catch fish just hard to find keepers. Started out in 25' of water pretty much on bottom and ended up in about 12' of water still on the bottom but were scattered out.

Again mostly on minnows crappie did not seem to want jig, tubes etc even with minnows on them but the bass would.

My fishing partner had another world record walleye hooked and same as last trip when we he finally got it to the boat he had hooked a turtle by the back foot. that's 2 trips in a row he's done that.

Thanks for the report, sorry about the turtle. Some people enjoy the turtles, I don't like catching them, but enjoy watching them.

Used to eat young snappers as a kid. Mom made a soup out of them. Not bad if they were young enough.

The first one he hooked was a dandy,. It was a big soft shell. Would have made a meal for several.

We use to eat them on the river off the trot line but haven't for a long time.

Do any of you have any idea how the crappie spawn went? We are thinking that at least some of them spawned out in deeper water this year. The last crappie we caught only had a little bit of eggs left in their sacs.

Also are there spoonbill in Stockton?

Didn't know. I've always heard there were no gar in Stockton but there is and we could have sworn we saw a spoonbill roll the other day but might have been a big blue.
