Members Tallg Posted June 2, 2015 Members Posted June 2, 2015 I will be bringing the family to beaver June 11 for 3 days to do some striper fishing. I fished here last year with a guide and now have the fever. I purchased a boat last fall thinking I would be coming here more often. Took a while to get it going as the motor, had issues when I bought it. Mounted a new minnkota w/ipilot and lowrance HDS7. We have thoroughly tested the boat chasing spoonbill all winter on Grand. Now its time to get into some striper, which is what I started out to do. Man I wish Beaver was closer to where I live. I have been reading the post nearly every day all winter. I have read all the educational material that F&F has provided. There is a lot of good info in that reading. Thanks for posting it. We are staying near the west end of the dam. What ramps would be recommended? Where is the closest place to buy bait, like brooder minnows or shad? We will be bringing some lures also but the guide we used last year was all bait, except when we went for some surfacing fish. No experience yet on trolling lures. I really appreciate the way everyone on here is so helpful in sharing information. Here is a couple of pic's of my crew and some spoonbill from Grand. Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll have some big ole striper pictures to share.
Members crkoester Posted June 2, 2015 Members Posted June 2, 2015 Buy brooder minnows at Hook Line and Sinker in Rogers. Although it's not really "close" to where you are, it might be closest. Your timing will be good for surface activity. Have a big topwater ready that you can throw a country mile in the mornings. Catching one that way is more fun than 10 trolling bait.
kjackson Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Beaver Dam Store has minnows...not sure what kind, but they do have 'em. Good luck.
Members Tallg Posted June 3, 2015 Author Members Posted June 3, 2015 What are the best ramps to use on the west side near the dam? Last year the guide used Lost Bridge North. I don't mind paying a marina to use a ramp and possibly a boat slip if they are available for weekend use.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Corps ramp at Lost Bridge South is a good one $4.00 per day as is Dam Site same price. Slips I have no clue on the price. Stripers "should" be from point 4 to the dam by then. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Lost Bridge Marina, looks like they have slips starting at $9.00/day. http://www.lostbridgemarina.com/
zarraspook Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Lost Bridge Marina, looks like they have slips starting at $9.00/day. http://www.lostbridgemarina.com/ Lost Bridge Marina also gives a 10% military discount... I have used mine for the last 4 years...... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Members Tallg Posted June 4, 2015 Author Members Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks, I will give Lost Bridge Marina a call tomorrow.
Members Beaverdamstore Posted June 4, 2015 Members Posted June 4, 2015 The Dam Store does have brooder minnows. Jim Ron Burgundy 1
Members Tallg Posted June 10, 2015 Author Members Posted June 10, 2015 The forum has been really quite this past week. I hope that means everyone is out fishing instead of talking about it.
