I spent a at the current last year and had a blast. It was early May when I went and didn't see but 6 floaters on the 80 miles I floated.

Now this year I went June 25-28 and only did 40 miles and was very disappointed with the massive crowds and jet boats. Giving its summer, I'll give the current a break. But I'm wonder how the eleven point is during the summer. Just as bad or much fewer people? Would love to hear from ya'll. I love to fish and do multi day trips and. Hate the drunken college kids and would love to stay away from that. N e info would be great.

The 11 Point sees considerably less traffic than the Current, so you should be fine there. Of course if you are out here on a Sat, you will see more people. We do have jet boats (25 horse max), but they are thickest on weekends and most are polite with them. What are you looking to fish for? That will help determine the route you should take.

I floated the Current every summer from Baptist to Van Buren. Beautiful water, but hated the crowds.

Discovered the Eleven Point about 15 years ago and haven't found reason to revisit the Current. Lots to see. Great fishing. Check with Brian for local lodging, canoe rental/shuttle, and latest fishing conditions. Be sure to investigate the historical landmarks and springs along the portion(s) you decide to float.

My son and I were there two years ago in August. Saw maybe 3 canoes on the river for the whole week, except for some DNR guys doing a shocking survey.

The only other people we saw were some families picnicking and swimming at our take out points. It was great!!

If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself...

Well I love all kinds of fishing. May it be smallies or trout. I just love some tie lines. I would be using conventional tackle. ( don't know anything about fly fishing). So pretty much anything that bits. I wouldn't mind catching some smaller trout for the table either

Well fellas u got me sold! Thanks for the info. I'll plan on hitting the eleven point in late August or early September. I would really like to float in some slightly cooler temps. Guess I'll have to wait till then to see the temps. How's the camping out there? Is there a good selection of spots or few and far between. I'd love to camp out 3-5 nights if possible.

Plenty of places to camp, check back closer to the trip and depending on water levels, we will know how far upstream you can start. At the very least, you can start at Greer and go down. Being a wet year, you might be able to start at Cane Bluff.

Dan the fisherman,

I'm sure we just lucked out avoiding much river traffic in August.

If it were me... (and it's not!!) I'd try to go mid-Oct thru the first part or Nov.

You'd be sure to avoid any rowdy crowds (party floaters and jet skis), the temps would be much more comfortable along with some great fall colors.

(I hate swatting skeeters and sweat'n by a campfire!!!)

If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself...

Thanks for the info Brian... I'll definitely get in touch when I'm closer.

Macs, that's not a bad idea. I wouldn't mind floating then also. If I can be patient I'll try to hold out till then. If not it'll be September when I go. I love me some camp and fishing. Can't get enough.
