moguy1973 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 We are planning on hitting either the Huzzah or Courtois on Sunday. Anyone know their conditions? By the Huzzah gauge it's running at 1200cfm right now but it's rising a bit. I want to say I've floated the upper at that level and it wasn't that bad. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
joeD Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Uhh. No. Look what is normal. Look what it is now. Especially if you want to fish. And live.
Gavin Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Might be different on Sunday our Monday. Fish will probably full of crawlers out of the flooded spots. Probably 40 of them on the bottom of my pool this morning & 2 moles. get a tub of crawlers and go fish a flooded field for catfish this weekend our go.pond or lake fishing.
Al Agnew Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Yep, that's a lot of water. Huzzah goes down quickly, but I wouldn't try to fish it at more than about 500 cfs. I would expect it to be dropping through 700 cfs by tomorrow. At those flows, it's pushy and a lot of the runs that hold fish are simply moving too fast and the current too strong to fish effectively. Only the bigger pools would be really fishable, and in truth there aren't many bigger pools on the Huzzah (or the Courtois--both are very similar). If you could find a shuttle, you might be able to put in up close to Dillards Mill and find fishable water, but I don't know that you could get a shuttle up that far. Don't know whether cwc is reading this, but if using Huzzah Valley, call ahead again this afternoon and ask them if the creek is fishable anywhere.
Members go4ducks2 Posted July 11, 2015 Members Posted July 11, 2015 I called Huzzah Valley at noon today and she said water was fine, only came up a foot and is going down......thats what she said.....we'll see cause I'm going down in the morning with the sons and grandsons.
Al Agnew Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Yes, it only came up a foot, but it was already a foot and a half above what it should normally be right now, and is now about a foot and a half above what it should be at normal springtime flows. It'll be a fun float, but the fishing won't be easy. go4ducks2 1
