Members Ccox1982 Posted August 9, 2015 Members Posted August 9, 2015 Was able to get away for a few days with a group of friends for a much needed fishing trip. We stay at Wildcat Shoals Resort because of the great hospitality they have and sweet Phyliss who runs the place. After we figured out who was fishing in what boat with who, my brother and I hoped into my boat and ran up river. All three days we fished the sloughs and pockets between the catch and release area above the state park, down to Sportmans Resort. Throwing 1/8 oz jigs and even 1/16 in some areas, we were able to catch good numbers all three days even with the high flow. We caught more rainbow in the 16-18 inch range than I have in the last few trips. Caught some real fattys too. I'm guessing this higher flow is given the fish a chance to grow. I was also lucky enough to complete the slam this weekend by catching all four species of trout. Good trip all in all with great friends. Some being first timers on the river catching there first trout. Big trout of the trip was my 20 1/2 inch brown. And my brother ended up catching his personal best brown of 20 inches. Ham Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 My understanding is they stock them in Norfork in October. I try to fish there within a few months of stocking for my best shot at one. I have seen a large Brown working over a group of small brookies in the mouth of Dry Run Creek. I suspect Brown trout eat a lot of the Brookies. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
