drew03cmc
Anyone know if it is still open or is it worth the trip to Gravois Mills to fish it. I tried one of their phone numbers and it was an insurance company. I was wondering if the C&R stream has any trout in it of decent size. This is the closest place to KCMO with trout fishing, and I would rather stay closer to home than drive all the way to Taney or someplace else. If you have fished it, or know anything about it, please let me know. Thank you! Andy
Gavin
If your looking for a pay to play place, I'd go to Rockbridge near Ava, MO, or head to Steelville and hit Westover Farm or Windrush Farms. All cater to fly fishers. Of the three Rockbridge has the most water, good accomodations, good food, nice cabins, sporting clays, trap, etc. Cheers. fishinwrench
Drew, I've been told that it IS in operation still, but it has kind of been forgotten.....by the owners too it seems. I never hear anyone talk about going there anymore....but there ARE some really fat Trout in there. The only time I have ever "seen my backing" while fighting a trout was at Troutdale. The last time I cruised through I couldn't even find anyone to pay, so I left a note with a phone number and went home.....nobody ever called. It really is...or could be...a neat little spring creek. drew03cmc
Well, would they be willing to sell because according to them, they do not have too many fish in the stream right now. I called two weeks ago. If they would sell, we could probably get the state to look at it and manage it as a trout stream. Never know, food for thought! If they were not there to accept payment, you should have fished anyway, if the farm was supposed to be open those hours, there should have been someone there. How do they stay in business? I wonder that sometimes. What would be necessary to make it a decent trout stream besides more fish? I suggest we meet up and take a drive out there to see what we can do, or volunteer to do for free fishing . I am a sucker for free fishing. vanven
I called them on Saturday just out of curiousity. They are open Monday through Saturday 8am to 4pm. The cost listed on the website was not exact but it was relatively close. The website is very out of date though. I live in the KC area as well and they are significantly closer than any other option. I am a little anxious to drive the two and a half hours to find it disappointing. If the weather stays nice I may just have to burn a Saturday and pay them a visit. -Jerod
drew03cmc
Let us know how it goes. They told me a month ago they had not stocked in awhile and therefore the # of fish available is low. Andy
