Good afternoon gentlemen.

My name is Marty, I currently live in the Shreveport area, but we are currently building a house near Yellville, just a little south of Peel.

We are building our retirement home.

I am a Salty, I often go to big lake (calcasieu), Buras, and Venice. I am a Reds fisherman. alot of folks down here like the Specs, but I prefer the Reds.

I have a 2014 Epic bay boat. I bought the boat last summer knowing we will at some point move to Yellville, but I also needed a boat that will serve my needs here in the salt. I think it will do just fine!

As I stated I am a Salty. havent fished fresh since I was a kid. I would like to get to know the area and methods of fishing fresh. I would especially like to target Walleye and Stripers. I do understand stripers were just stocked a few yrs ago in BS but are prevalent in NF.

That being said Ill be asking A LOT of questions, please forgive my ignorance, for I know nothing about Walleye and Stripers.

Once we get moved Ill continue to to come back to the salt on a regular basis, so anyone that wants to go red fishing, your welcome to come along

Anyways I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.  Ill post the same thread in the lower BS forum. not sure if they are linked or not

Here are a few pictures of our house being built, my boat, and what I normally fish for!

Welcome to Ozark Anglers...  I'm sure you will get lots of advice on Walleye and Stripers from the experts on here.  Probably not from me, because I am still wanting to learn as well.  Caught a couple walleye, but have not tried stripers yet.  But hope to get the chance some day.  Never tried Red fishing either.  Only salt experience I have had is a few strawberry grouper, King Mackerel, and a few Barracuda on squid pieces off Key West.  Keep in mind also there is a good striper fishing at Beaver Lake just a 100 miles West from your new place.  Your new place is beautiful.  I dream of having something like that when I retire.  Good luck on your new adventrure.

Beautiful home and you're in a great area. I know you are a lake boat guy but don't discount the beautiful Ozark streams!

Nice introduction, welcome to the site.  Not a whole lot of information gets posted on Bull Shoals, but what does can usually be very helpful.

Nice looking house also, what a dream house that would be.

Marty,

Welcome to the forum and nice "shack"! Now that is my idea of retirement! BTW, I have a sister/brother-in-law that live in Shreveport. Definitely no walleye down that way.

I am fairly new to walleye fishing on Bull Shoals, but this board has been extremely helpful. You could spend hours searching past posts and really come up to speed on things. Heck if you search my user name, you will see several threads where the seasoned vets helped me out.

One thing that I would strongly recommend is hiring a guide. I can count on one hand the amount of times I usually fish Bull Shoals in a given year. I hired Mike Worley a few years back and he taught me what would have taken at least five years to learn on my own. His advice didn't stop after the trip either. He has continued to answer questions/give me advice since that trip. Oh and he frequently targets stripers too.

I may be able to help with the striper fishing as I used to fish norfork a lot and if you want some to go red fishing with I am all in. I live near Springfield and would be glad to help if I can by the way nice house and boat.  I also have a bay boat and like it a lot if I can be of any help let know.  Jerry

I'm no help on Bull Shoals as I'm learning to fish it myself, but I'll go after those reds in a heartbeat!  We've chased them for years in the Destin area, and I've been looking forward to hitting Venice for them for a long time.  Hit me up next time you head down there.  I'm in Ozark, MO.

First, some reading:

http://www.ozarkanglers.com/white-river-walleye-on-worm-harness/

http://www.ozarkanglers.com/table-rock/trolling-for-walleye/

Second, a suggestion:

Hire Mike Worley three times -> Spring, Summer, Fall. He can show you/teach you much about the lake and the techniques.

Last, look up the Twin Lakes Walleye club. The members share enormous amounts of information.
