Just came back last night from an impromptu one day trip down Reds landing.

Had to get eyes on my new vacation/retirement property and make sure it was all I had hoped. I close in a couple weeks, hopefully when I come down for a bit longer stay sept 18-24th i can fish from norfork dam down to calico rock. I did the longer trek last year from Bull Shoals to Buffalo city. Im going to spend a bit more time getting to know this section of river seeing how I will be vacationing here more often. It's a great feeling to know that I have the 2 acres to call my own and can camp and make it my own.

Having the drive put in and get a perk test done and . It's only a stones throw from the public access and not in the flood plane. pretty excited.

Have any of you fished the catch and release section below Red's? be curious to hear about fishing the section from norfork to calico rock.

Good for you man! I love that section of river. It is tough fishing when the water gets muddied up by The Buffalo River, but it isn't really hit as hard as some other sections.

I'm not sure that is still an official catch and release area. I haven't fished all the way to Calico, but I've fished to within a mile or two of it. It's good fishing.

There's a catch and release section below Red's, or at least there was last time I fished it which was Fall of 2013 I think.  It's alright.  There's a really neat area on the right as you head downstream through it that's full of big rocks and holds lots of fish.  I share Ham's enthusiasm for that part of the river.

Thanks, I had to push back my mini vacation/closing a bit as the surveyor cant get in to do the marking for a week to 10 days..

While I was down there 2 weeks ago checking out the property I had gotten into chiggers and had over 60 bites on my legs. scratching turned into a staff infection so now I'm laid up taking some pretty powerful stuff they use for Mrsa.. pretty scary stuff.. Lesson learned dont scratch!

Sorry to hear about the setback from the Red Bugs. I hate to use DEET directly on me, but spraying beforehand does help AND I try to bathe promptly after exiting the brush and scrub with tea tree oil containing soap. I've been pretty lucky using that protocol.

I've been wondering about you and the move down. Shoot me a PM next time you're down this way.

Thanks Ham!

Just waiting on the surveyor to finish up and I'm planning to come down for at least 5 days.
I also ordered a stealthcraft 1654 ATB about 2 weeks ago and I hope (doubtful) that its done in time for the closing..

I will definitely get ahold of you as the plans are finalized for the close.

Already bought house plans, and will start on building the "Hawks Nest" soon.
a little 900 sq ft home away from home.
It will be a rental and a weekend place for the wife and I once completed

My wife and I are finishing out a 1200 sq foot shack in Marion County that looks across the river at Cotter, AR. It's not gonna be as pretty as yours, but I hope it will be home before too, too long.

Look forward to meeting you one of these days.

sweet view Ham!.. We wont have much of any view but the timber.

Who knows, we might be able to see the ridge opposite the boat ramp in the winter.  Looking forward to making some new friends down there. Already count you as one of them.. just need to wet some lines together. Hopefully soon.

Wow, I bet you'll have a deck or a porch overlooking that with a cup of coffee on a nice fall morning!   That is beyond sweet!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

I hope to be able to have friends over at the bluff lot eventually. Look forward to meeting you at Jigfest Eric. It's a gathering of a lot of great guys that I have been blessed with getting to know a little bit.
