Members usmcgrunt
Has anyone had any luck on catfish from the bank lately? I've been hitting Aldrich and catching an obscene amount of shad for bait but just can't seem to catch anything. I was thinking about hitting the main lake, but it's been so long since I've fished up there that I don't know where any of the good cat spots are. Any pointers? I'm not looking for a secret honey hole, just a good general area. Thanks!
Members Shorelineangler
It's been slow everywhere.. Water temperatures still in the low 80's in most lakes. I would say your best bet for cats is wherever you can find moving water. No luck in any of my local spots around springfield.
Ketchup
Cats are pretty much in every area of every lake. I caught a 5+ lb'er on a flat bill crank last weekend. I would look on an online map that shows contours and depth, look for an area with deeper water nearby, that you can access from shore, and sit there just before dark, til midnight. straw hat
The wife and I have been catching 4 or 5 (total) during the day even in the hot weather. We fished 20 to 35' deep along steep rock banks and bluffs. Mostly mid lake.
