marcus Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 Awesome report! Never thought about bass fishing twain before great fish! wish i would of had more than one day to fish it last weekend it was a fun trip for sure
marcus Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 Anyone know if Mark Twain has any restrictions on using a kayak to fish from? I know Lake of the Ozarks seemed very restrictive on where one could use a canoe or kayak at, but I'm hoping that was only due to the excessive amount of pleasure boaters. I don't recall seeing anything at Mark Twain prohibiting it at the Ray Behrens boat ramp, that one time I went there before but I figure it doesn't hurt to check twice. I know the general idea is kind of crazy/stupid/whatever given the size of the lake but it's not like I would try to cover anywhere near the amount of water in it, that one would in a boat, I just think it would still be a bigger guarantee at some success than just fishing from shore. Also, do you have to pay the fee to put in the kayak, like any other boat if you decide to put in tthere?
marcus Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 the army corps of engineers runs the whole lake pretty much and they have no restrictions on canoes or kayaks...u can get to some spots on the lake that regular boats cant get to cause all the timber i used to bring my canoe there all the time i would always put in at the 107 boat ramp and fish around there just remember theres like over 20 or 30 public boat ramps on this lake u got plenty of options to choose from
Haris122 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Sweet, thanks. I plan on heading up there pretty soon, and see if I do at least a bit better than last time. marcus 1
Smallie Seeker Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 The water clarity was as good as I can ever recall. Just wish we could've gotten into some bigger crappie. I noticed my hands were like sandpaper while at work Monday from all the crappie/bass we caught. Idk when the switch occurred but I haven't drowned a minnow while crappie fishing for several years now. I just feel that if I can catch em on a minnow then I can get em on a jig. Usually white/pink. And then I spend less time rebaiting and more time catching. marcus 1
brother dave Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I have fished m.t. from a canoe. And have had good days as well as slow days. The wind wakes can make it a huge challenge, I would pick my launch according to wind direction so I didn't have to fight it. marcus and SmallyWally 2 I shop at the outdoor grocery store
