LoweSTX175 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Launched from Mutton Creek at 9 AM. Trolled around Point 6 again going 2.1 mph with FlickerShad at 14-18 FOW. Caught 2 dink walleye and one dink LM bass. Move on the other side of the channel and drifted the flat with worm harnesses and shrimp. No luck on the flat. Drove back into Googer Creek trolled back out at 2.1 MPH in 14-18 FOW... caught one dink walleye. Once again it seems tough during the day on the lake. Still seeing lots of large balls of shad on the downscan. Planning on going later in the day tomorrow (launch at 1 PM) and fishing into the evening. Planning on trying some new water for myself personally. Looking at going to Cedar Ridge. I do have a question for anyone who might know if you can still go under the 215 Bridge. One Monday it looks like there are no wake buoys all underneath the bridge. Just curious if I need to drive all the way to Cedar Ridge to launch or if I can drive from Mutton. zarraspook 1
Members Shorelineangler Posted September 23, 2015 Members Posted September 23, 2015 There is a lot of good water to cover from cedar ridge, particularly going N. As for the bridge, I cannot say.
minnowhooker Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 You can drive your boat from Mutton just go to Little Sac arm an turn right.................around Maze creek and east I'd say the CR area starts but I think you would use less gas if you just drove to CR with your truck. marcus 1
lmt out Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Thanks for all the reports Lowe. I fished today and yes you can go under the bridge just no wake. Trolled crawler harnesses in 17 ft of water had 28 walleye with 5 keepers. By myself today. The mrs. will be with me tomorrow. marcus and Shorelineangler 2
LoweSTX175 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 lmt out, what time of the day were you on the lake? I'm going to go out later tomorrow and be out close to dark. I'm going to be out earlier towards the end of the week or Saturday. I'm going to try and shoot at some teal at sun up one of these mornings. wtr dogs 1
lmt out Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 From about 9 to 2. We always seem to do better in the middle of the day. Which is hard for me to get thru my head. I usually want to be on the lake early and late. But when I started learning to walleye fish I kept hearing the last half our of day light. Or a good cloudy windy day. I have found the opposite. Hot sunny days and I think a little wind helps but we have caught a lot of walleye when it is calm. Now I am talking in June July August and September. I haven't caught enough walleye any other time of year to even talk about. But I am gonna try to learn more about it this year.
Kramr Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Lmt out, Assuming you're using blades and beads on your crawler rig, what color(s) seem to be working?
wtr dogs Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Fished the same time and area as yesterday and NADA unless you count bulegill. My buddy was using a purple blade and getting the most bites the day before. At 6:00 PM The entire surface of the lake was covered with bait fish from Edge Island to the dam. Nothing chasing them. We should have some fat fish next spring. Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
LoweSTX175 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 I've got the boat ready right now. Waiting on my fishing buddy to show up then I'm heading to Cedar Ridge. I'm going to move further out to 20 foot. If that doesn't work by about 5 pm then I'm going to brush pile bounce with jigs. Hopefully I have a decent report with some success for tonight for everyone. marcus and Shorelineangler 2
dan hufferd Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I have had good luck with a lindy rig, and a gold spinner and gold beads. I use my out board to troll ( I have a flap) 1mph. The lindy rig and crawler harness set up let me get away from the boat, much like trolling a crank bait. I have to admit I have never had numbers of walleye like some I read here with any method. I still have much to learn. wtr dogs 1
