Dan the fisherman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Went on a striper hunt this morning. I was trolling by 6 am. It was chilly today. Had to put a jacket on for the first few hrs. N e ways, I started at point 10 dragging some nice big shiners from the surface to about 30 fow I went into ventris about half way back and turn back out to main lake with nothing to show for my efforts. It was about 8 by then. So I packed up and headed to copper mine. Got lines set up again and landed a couple of bass. I fished the area till 10 then called it a morning and headed home. Here r the bass I got. Green236 1
Dan the fisherman Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 I think that first fish may have been a mean mouth btw. Looked like a small mouth when I got it out. But once I took a good look at it it seemed to have a dark stripe down its side like a LM. But it was very golden. Idk though.
Quillback Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Nice fish, looks like a meanie to me also. Sometimes it is hard to tell based on pictures.
Dan the fisherman Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 Yeah quil. I'm not sure. Both fish were just under 15 inches though. Had some nice fat bellies too
Champ188 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I'd vote meanmouth for sure on that top fish.
Stump bumper Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I had one just like that, pic on "in the wind" I always heard there were no brown mean mouths but it just didn't look right for a smallie. In most tournaments they would be weighed as small mouth but I say they are crossed with a spot. Nice looking fish. Dan the fisherman 1
Dan the fisherman Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 I'm going back tomorrow afternoon. I'll be on the hunt for striper again. Hopefully tomorrow pans out Lance34 1
Members Green236 Posted October 14, 2015 Members Posted October 14, 2015 The wife and I pulled various crank baits near pc/12 bridge today from 1-5. Marked lots of fish at 40' from the marina markers to the small island. Only caught a decent black there. Finished out the day inside the markers along the bluff walls westward towards the back of pc. Boated a 22" walleye there. Hoped to see the birds working and the football field size shad blow ups the people have been talking about for two days. Just saw lazy birds today.
Members fishhook1.0 Posted October 14, 2015 Members Posted October 14, 2015 Was out yesterday, found the same thing at 40 ft. Trolled lead line down to this depth, nothing. Caught a few small spots in the 20-25 ft. range. Fished from PC to HSB. Yep, lazy birds!
Dan the fisherman Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Made it out there this afternoon. Trolled live bait around coose, point 10 and the islands. I didn't get a bite. I'll head to RB areas Friday. Not sure what time. I haven't decided that yet but hey, at least I have an idea where I want to troll. Lol. I'll be keeping fingers cross till then.
