Well got down around 9:00 and lord behold nobody there! Got to fish chute 1 by myself with my spinning rod. Roostertail no bite, brown jig 1st cast caught a at least a 20 something got 3 feet from bank and I paniced, it broke off. darn it  Then caught a 17 inch brown where the water comes out and a 15 inch brown. Froze out and went to find Lilley's. What a deal, I was on Fall Creek rd,Trail,Dr and anyway found it to get my orange Ozark Anglers Cap. The lady working there, probably Phil's wife, very friendly and hot, oh did I mention, well all good she help me get a couple of floats and I went back to the dam. Went up from chute 1 with a white roostertail and caught 7 in a row. In all 25 or so fish and alot of bows between 14-18 and fat browns between 12 and 17. You didn't hear it from me, but the shad is comming threw the dam. We caught the last few fish on a white 1/8 jig and bobber. :)

Did you see shad or are they just hitting white. They've been hitting white for quite sometime.

I wouldn't doubt if some are coming thru... but just haven't talked to anyone yet that's seen them in person. Until then, it's not official, for me anyhow.

But they will hit white- they do every winter... and most of the year.

Oh my... I'll have to go fishing today.

Last... hard to say but it could last quite a while seeing the conditions: very cold and lots of generation. I've seen it last thru March into April and late as the first of May.

Finally an actual shad kill? I hope it continues on till this weekend so I can get a part of it.

Phil, if you got fishing, let us know if you see any shad up there.

Whodat:

Nice talking to you at Taney yesterday. Right after you left I landed a real nice brown and then two rainbows in about 30 minutes. I was fishing white maribou with a touch of pink at that same spot. The farther out I throwed the better the bite. I was doing better when I skipped off the bottom but it cost me a couple of jigs.
