Members Ken Drish Posted November 5, 2015 Members Posted November 5, 2015 I'm looking to see if there would be interest in a Holiday Island bass tournament. I've had a place on Holiday Island for the past two years and love it. My boat sits in the marina. However, I have never seen a tournament go off out of Holiday Island. Now, to be clear, I have never run a tournament, so I'd be looking for some pointers. But, I'm thinking nothing too intense. Interested participants would throw in some $$, maybe $25 per person. Run the tourney from 7am - 1pm - weigh in at 1:30pm and go from there. Depending on the # of participants, we could determine the # of places paid. Maybe even have a big bass bogey! I'd be happy to organize the tournament and research the best ways to run it. Obviously with input with folks who would be interested. Thoughts? Long term... maybe we start a club? Thanks! Champ188 1
m&m Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Ken, I can only speak for myself on your suggestion. You can look at regatta permits issued to tournament organizations and see that there are plenty of them on TR if you want to fish tournaments. Believe me when I say fishing a tournament and running a tournament are very different. So if your desire is to fish tournaments, there are plenty out there. If your desire is to run tournaments, it will require an investment in professional scales, equipment, etc. and then you will compete for contestants with other established tournaments. If you are looking to join a bass club, there are a few of them on TR too. They hold club tournaments for members only and I'm sure others on this forum can provide information on those. Good luck. Mike
Members Ken Drish Posted November 6, 2015 Author Members Posted November 6, 2015 Thanks M&M. I've just never seen one go out of Holiday Island and would love to have one there.
Sprint21fter Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 It would be different a venue that far up the lake.
Champ188 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 If it comes together, Donna and I would likely fish it.
