I hate to be a doomsday sayer, but I have watched all the ecoli and salmonella problems over the past few years and I dont think its accidents. I think it is planted and I think its going to become worse until we Americans wake up and realize that along the Mexican Border Terrorist come thru daily.

Yep, I have Peter Pan with that number and have been sick several days over the past few weeks from it I decided. PB dont last long around here.

Just expect these micro biological attacks to continue and get worse.

just goes to show you that alot of the generic and cheaper brands come out of the same factories as the expensive stuff. Its all about the marketing and advertising costs.

I love peanut butter, but thank god we dont have one of the bad jars!

2 jars here also starting with the product code 2111. Funny though, the expiration dates are Jan 2008 and April 2007. How long has this been going on? The Peter Pan was almost gone, and someone had opened the GV too. Walmart must have gotten a good deal on it!

I had 2111 peanut butter on my toast yesterday as I have off and on for the last month with no ill effects. I will however take the lid back to Walmart for a refund. After a couple of tours in Nam, my intestinal tract is more resilient than others. My wife thinks I could digest an anvil.

We had some of the GV with the bad numbers. My wife has taken my 13 year old daughter to the doctor twice over the last few weeks due to a high fever. It comes and goes. Then we realized last night that the fever was showing up every time my daughter made peanut butter cookies. To her, peanut butter cookies is one of the major food groups.

That's fine that I can take the jar and get my money back, but they should be covering medical bills. The doctor was so frustrated with not being able to figure out what it was that she had to have chest x-rays yesterday.

I had a sandwich of 2111 on Wednesday night. My girlfriend tells me I need to throw the peanut butter away. I DO NOT THROW PEANUT BUTTER AWAY. I thought she was just screwing with me because I told her that Dr McDreamy on Greys Anotomy got killed off the show. Then I saw the news report on the recall. DOH!

You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.

John, it's not what and when you eat, but what transpires after that I would worry about.

The first two weeks of this month, I spent with my brother in Arkansas working. I stayed at his home and was treated like a king. One evening we were late getting home and fixed PBJ's for a late supper. That night I awoke to a very sore stomach. That was all. Thought no more about it. After they mentioned it on the news yesterday, I called to tell him. When he got home last night he called to tell me that the numbers were not the same. He said that the numbers were 2111----------. When I called him yesterday to tell him, he was busy and didn't listen, when I told him the first four numbers were the batch listings. So he ate another PBJ sandwich, before he called. I just laughed, fortunately nothing happened to him. What a ding-a-ling.

You ought to have them do some lab work to verify. Of course, it would probably take years to collect. I can kind of understand problems w/ meat packing, but don't understand how peanut butter can be contaminated w/ an animal-born bacteria. I know if can contaminate irrigation water and soil, but don't they wash and roast them first?

Here are some of the symptoms from webmd

Salmonella has several distinct symptoms:

* Diarrhea

* Fever

* Abdominal cramps

* Headache

In most people, symptoms begin from 12 hours to three days after being infected. These symptoms, along with possible nausea, loss of appetite, and vomiting, usually last for four to seven days. Diarrhea can be severe and require hospitalization. The bacteria usually infect the intestines however it can also infect the blood and produce more severe and life-threatening symptoms such as infection of the heart valves or blood vessels.
