The real magic happens with editing and that requires a decent computer. That's part of the rub with me. I don't want to look through all the crap video. It's a personal preference, admittedly. A well-composed and thought out still shot is gonna win every time with me. I like National Geographic, not NatGeo John

Members Skell9653 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Members Posted November 24, 2015 haha I take plenty of still photos and tell the stories (I'm a story-teller and I like hearing stories), but I just think that video would add the extra dimension to that memory to be able to go back and re-live it.

Oh yeah -- no denying there's a plus side to it. Heck, I didn't even video my kids much when they were growing up. Heck, at a certain age I didn't really want to hear the crap coming out of their mouths again anyway Skell9653 1 John

No one wants to sit there for 30 minutes to watch someone catch one fish. Unfortunately, there people are still that insist on uploading these kinds of videos. I usually just take still shots from my video. Since I mostly fly fish alone, this helps me get a decent shot of the fish so I can get it back in the water quickly. instagram.com/fishingmill twitter.com/Fishingmill vimeo.com/fishingmill
LittleRedFisherman Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I have a Hero 2 and a 3, I do prefer the 3 as it just has better looking video, the colors are sharper. I have used the head mount to get some neat youtube videos. They rock in a kayak, I made a pvc mount for a Jackson coosa out of 1 inch PVC, if had a pic i'd show you, i'll try to find one. Like others have stated, I pick the still shots out of the video on my editor, they are very good quality, espieically on the hero 3 black, i'd imagine the 4 would even be better, even if you ran it in 1080 and not 4k? Great little action cameras, I use them mainly for 2nd angle stuff when i'm in a boat now. If your wanting to film with good audio, there not the best, but the 3 and 4 is a lot better than the 2 for audio. Good luck, look forward to your videos!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
