Vinsott Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Me and my wife started late about 10am throwing swim baits. After nothing for about 1.5 hours started trolling. After 2 hours had a walleye fall off about half way in around the islands. Saw bait and arches all 20-40 ft down. Went to PC trolled and then back to swim bait, still nothing after another 2 hours. My goal is to never get skunked even if it is a bluegill. Wasn't happening. Headed back in and stopped and threw the swimbait some more with the sun already set. Wife was freezing, dog was shivering both were bitching. I was about to give it up and felt a tap. Set hook and proceeded to pull in on something that felt like a stick. Right at the boat I realized it was a fish because it actually started moving. A small walleye. I got it in the boat, unhooked it, released it, and felt the stress just go away. But of course I couldn't just go in with fish hitting. Wife and dog now cuttled together getting aggravated and unruley. Another cast........ nothing, and another cast............ nothing. Why must I push my luck???? I caught my fish, time to go in. Another cast........ BANG!!!!!!!! A good hit, and set, and reel. Another small walleye just coming in. Wait, it's starting to feel a bit better, honey can you get up and get the net just in case? Only 6 pound line and it might be a keeper. tho1mas, Lance34, bfishn and 5 others 8
Stump bumper Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Really nice Walleye ! Did you weigh it ? I had one like that come all the way to the boat last week on a spoon then let go at the boat, did not have a hook in him, just fought me for the spoon it had sideways in his mouth. That is really something for 6lb test, I am using no less than 17lb leaders right now.
Vinsott Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Didn't weigh it. It was a touch over 25"
J-Doc Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I was starting to think all the bigger walleye packed their bags and left town. Way to stick in there! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Dan the fisherman Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Really nice eye! I still haven't got a keeper this year.
Blll Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Wow, that's a beauty. On a swimbait? You get extra credit for fighting through the Wife/Dog tag team. Like we talked yesterday, you never know on this lake. I have not seen a keeper eye' since April. Nice. fisherofmen11 1
