Guest Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Today we launched out of Hickory Creek at 10am fished till dark. we ran everything from Kellys creek to the sidewalk hole. Water temp 51-56 degrees. We found stained, clear & murky water (I wouldn't call it muddy) the corps had been running full throttle for a few days & they killed the generators yesterday. The fish had moved & I had to scramble again fishing a ton of new water. Once got dialed in on the bluff cuts & bluff ends, it was game on. The wind was about right for a good ole crankbait bite. Once I found that perfect 100 yard stretch of bank, I would run & find another bank just like it. Transition banks & channel swings, points at the mouth of coves. We hit at least 30-40 different spots. My dad caught 30 & I boated 33 with a bonus White bass. All total we brought 63 aboard in 7hrs. Thats about the same catch rate as previous trips. We caught more LMB this time but our best 5 would go 9-10lbs. I had 3 keeper LMB & 2 keeper Spots. I lost a 3-4lb LMB on a point out in the wind. It just pulled loose, so I changed out my hooks. We threw the same 3 crankbaits 100% of the time. Wiggle Wart, Square bill & Rock Crawler. The fish are shallow & I didn't fish the square bill enough. Of course I never threw the spinnerbait, but I couldn't put down the crankbait. If you found shad there were fish feeding nearby. I found a bunch of schools of crappie & bream along with smaller wolf packs of bass. Wood is key along these bluff banks. Several fish bit when the bait rolled off a log. I had to slow the bait down today & had a dozen or more hit the bait while motionless with 3-4ft of line out right under the boat. If anybody has a Revo Winch they want to sell, Im looking for a good used right hander.
Dan the fisherman Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Very cool. I need to learn the rivers more. Sounds like the bite up there in fall is darn good
Guest Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I gotta text from another river rat. He said that he's caught 25 in the first 2 hours this morning on the same pattern.
Dan the fisherman Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 If u don't mind me asking, how far r u going up cause, I've managed to get myself stuck on a sand bar up river once. So I'm a bit wary to go very far.
Guest Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Kelly's creek was as far as I went past point 12. I strictly run the river channel, so it's takes longer to run. Gotta watch out for those long mud flats with standing timber & logs 100 yards offshore
Ham Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I think I would have been chunking lipless crankbaits looking for more of those White Bass. Dan the fisherman 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Is that south of the 412 bridge? Like I said I rarely ever venture up there

Dan the fisherman Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Ahhh ok. Think I know now. I imagined way up river for some reason. Thank for all the info btw. Great report too.
